full leather bindings are the most labour-intensive but the most rewarding works. i usually use high-quality goat skins for these books. i stitch up the text block and lace on the covering boards, sew on the headbands and pare the leather, and design and prepare any inlay or onlay decoration. occasionally i will also add tooling in blind or with foil or gold leaf.
