the lay-flat notebooks, also known as sewn-board bindings, are lovely practical little books. they lay completely flat when you open them, so you can write easily anywhere, and there’s no gutter margin! i use 90gsm paper for the textblock and it doesn’t bleed, so these are great books for journaling. the spine and corners or fore-edge are covered in linen. contrasting decorative paper is used on the boards, with complementary coloured endpapers. as with the coptic stitch journals, i never use the same combination of linen and paper more than once, so each book is a unique creation.
